Ben Jones: Budo, Bugei, Bujinkan, Bujutsu, Ninjutsu and Ninpo; a site about the Bujinkan Dojo martial arts

Tucson Taikai

I spent about 18 years interpreting for Masaaki Hatsumi, Grandmaster (Sōke) of the Bujinkan Dōjō and 'the last Ninja'. At the time there was little reliable information in English on numerous practical aspects of this martial art and Sōke's wishes regarding it, so I issued a photocopied sheet, then a booklet, and then a website. Now, however, the situation has changed dramatically and there is almost too much information, so any time & effort spent trying to update my old pages would be largely wasted, and I have taken them down. If anyone is really interested in e.g. my lists of Taikai (including videos), Ninjutsu books/videos in Japanese or other languages, suggestions on training in Japan, and other information — despite parts being out of date — you can still find it via the Wayback Machine.

I am still toying with the idea of publishing some of my own thoughts and/or research on the art (and perhaps an updated edition of my booklet Bufū Ikkan), but this will be a long-term project. Watch this space!
